No one dominated southeast Kansas distance running like Christie Allen Logue -- well, maybe until her children came along.
The Altamont, Kansas native was a four-time state medalist in cross country and won multiple medals at state track while running at Labette County in the late 1980s. She continued her excellence as a track and field and cross country student-athlete at Pittsburg State from 1989-1993.
During her time at Pitt State, Allen Logue was an eight-time NCAA Division II champion and an 11- time All-American. She won national titles in cross country, and indoor and outdoor track in the same academic year in both her junior and senior years at Pitt State. Her championship track titles included the 1,500 meters (indoor), the 5,000 and 10,000 meters (outdoor) in 1992 and 3,000 meters (indoor) and 5,000 and 10,000 meters (outdoor) in 1993.
Allen Logue also won 14 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association individual titles, two of which came in cross country. She still holds the Pitt State record in the 1,500 meters, 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters.
She was named the NCAA Division II Woman Athlete of the Year in 1993 as a senior for the Gorillas. Academically, Allen Logue also shined, earning Academic All-America honors three times.
Perhaps the most impressive achievements of her college career, Allen Logue earned the 1993 NCAA Today’s Top Six award — a prestigious award that honors six senior student-athletes across the country who impress both on the field and in the classroom.
She was previously inducted into the Pitt State Hall of Fame in 2003 and the MIAA Hall of Fame in 2012.
Allen Logue has two children, both of whom are track stars in their own right. Her son, Cormick, currently competes in indoor, outdoor and cross country for South Dakota State, and her daughter, Callie, competes at Iowa State, winning Big 12 Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Year three times.
Allen Logue currently serves as an assistant cross country coach at Girard High School and her husband, Matt has served as head coach for more than a decade.
