Honor .... Educate .... Inspire

Founded in 1961 by the Legislature as a part of the Kansas Centennial celebration, the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame mission is to honor those whose involvement in sports brought pride to themselves, their communities, and the entire state of Kansas and to educate and inspire future generations of Kansans to achieve greatness – both on the fields of athletic competition and as leaders with integrity off the field.

Archives, Exhibits & More

Headquartered in the historic Wichita Boathouse in downtown Wichita, the Hall of Fame is the state's center for preserving the state's sports history of great teams, athletes, coaches and contributors.  The Hall of Fame also operates the Kansas Sports Museum in Newton, the history division of the organization. The museum includes archives and exhibits featuring the state’s outstanding individuals and teams and provides an impressive showplace for honoring the state’s sports heroes and history, designed and programmed for educating and inspiring Kansas youth.

Looking To the Future

Special events, inductions, awards ceremonies and the Future Hall of Famers Youth Program are all integral parts of the initiatives aimed at providing statewide educational outreach programs.  The Hall of Fame is operated by a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, under the governance of a Governor-appointed Board of Trustees.
